What is Fellow Funders and what is its objective?
Fellow Funders, an equity crowdfunding platform, began its trajectory with the award for the best StartUp Alcobendas 2016 project, presented at DemoDayAlcobendas.
After more than 10 years of experience as bank managers, Guillermo Azqueta and Francisco Mariscal are quitting their positions. They are launching a new equity crowdfunding platform with the aim of guaranteeing startups and SMEs an alternative: unbanked funding channel that offers more advantages than bank loans.
The high dependence on banks in our country, which exceeds 95%, mainly affects SMEs and start-ups. It is very difficult for them to obtain funding to develop their business projects. This over-dependence, coupled with the fact that private, professional and institutional investors obtain a very low return on existing funds. These are the main reasons why the crowdfunding sector is growing by over 200% every year in our country.
Fellow Funders stands as the equity crowdfunding platform with its own method of analysis, valuation and scoring of projects to provide greater guarantees to investors. Likewise, the platform provides investors with all the documentation: letter of guarantees, partner agreements and escrow accounts (segregated bank accounts that allow the money to be deposited safely while the expansion is being carried out and with the guarantee of the deposit fund) to bring transparency and security to the whole process. The platform was created with the objective of reaching 10% of the national market share. This will be achieved in the next two years, with a view to international expansion in the future.
