These are the Measures Adopted by Aiudo as a result of the COVID-19

Aiudo is an exciting project that closed its round through Fellow Funders with the support of 53 investors. The company’s home-care selection start-up has decided to put all the means at its disposal to combat the negative effect by the COVID-19 on the most vulnerable economies.

The company will provide intermediation services and management of caregivers in Spain, although it has decided not to charge families that cannot afford it in places such as Seville, Madrid and Valencia, which are the most affected cities due the Coronavirus in Spain.

People interested on this proposal should send a request for assistance on its website. What is more, they need to provide proof of an income/expense ratio below the minimum. The social worker and CEO of the company, Daniel Ibiza, assures that many families, despite needing this service, cannot afford it as many depend on State aids and sometimes that is not enough.

On the one hand, they are maintaining very close contact with the families, so that the logical misinformation of this new scenario does not worry them. To solve these issues, they have increased the area of attention to families. Moreover, they are producing training material to help caregivers develop better skills and provide them with basic protocols of action

They have contacted the Spanish Ministry of Health to express the possibility of employing a diagnostic testing for new caregivers. It is expected that new rapid response tests will arrive in Spain and that their use will be extended. Their priority is to keep our elderly away from the Covid-19.

This free service may be extended to other cities depending on the service saturation. Even though it is free, they will carry out the process in the same way and each process requires interviewing at least 20 candidates until they find the most suitable one for each case. If they have many requests, and if it affects the quality of the selection, then they will limit the extension.

To cope with this economic situation, they will try to keep the entire staff. In fact, they have added another person whose job is to address the concerns of the families. Moreover, Aiudo was one of the first companies to telecommute as soon as the State of Alarm was decreed. This has allowed them to be better adapted to the current circumstances.

Aiudo’s CEO, Daniel Ibiza, assures that this initiative will affect his income statement as the cities already mentioned are part of the main market. However, he says “It is our responsibility to take the lead and protect our elders at any price“.
