How will companies be in 2025?

On October 8, the event “The Company 2025“, sponsored by Ibercaja, took place in Zaragoza. The objective of this event, held in a hybrid face-to-face-telematic format, aimed to predict what the company 2025 will be like. This would have to focus on six major areas: innovation, digitalization, cultural transformation, diversity, sustainability and entrepreneurship. To these would be added a cross-cutting area: communication. To talk about each of these areas, seven speakers were invited to provide their vision of the short-term future of the company.

According to Luz López, director of Ecosistema Más Empresa, innovation is “something that needs to be done urgently. It is for brave people, who are willing to fail, and very competent at the same time”. During the event, Luz explained that the abundance of resources causes disruption and transforms industries. Companies must be prepared to develop and drive innovation, which has to be measured beyond business performance indicators.

Transform or die

For Aleix Valls, CEO of LiquiD, the digital transformation of SMEs involves consuming digital solutions developed by third parties. Digitalization  has a structural element, the data, which  form of management has to be included in the business models. Aleix expects a future in which SMEs that were not part of the same ecosystem will start to collaborate.

Yolanda Cañizares, executive and personal coach, was invited to talk about cultural transformation.. Yolanda argues that we need “to consider company culture as the driving vehicle for the transformation of organizations, which is already necessary”. Well-defined cultural parameters, according to Yolanda, generate the scenario in which people can give their best version. The coach referred to the current pandemic, which has rushed the need to review all organizations.

Diversity and sustainability

Mireia Garcia, CEO of Innomads, made a fervent defense of diversity in the company: ” We cannot afford not to be diverse. The world is diverse. Talent is diverse. Our customers  are diverse”. According to Mireia, this diversity should be about gender, culture, beliefs, age, ability and location, among others. The entrepreneur criticized current human resources policies for lacking the flexibility and adaptation to change required at the present time.

Juan Royo, the economist and expert in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), was also present and gave his vision of sustainability. In his opinion, entrepreneurs must think about social, environmental and corporate governance concepts in order to dialogue on an equal footing with large companies. This vision connects with the one we promote at Fellow Funders, where we believe that the future of investment is based on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria.

Entrepreneurship tomake the world better

Pedro Lozano, co-founder of Imascono, believes that the role of entrepreneurs should be “to build a better world and any idea should be built on business values”. He was in charge of the entrepreneurship area. According to Pedro, the main challenge for everyone should be to build a better world. It is important to start from a basis of consistent values, but it is also necessary to have an open mind to adapt yourself to the circumstances.

Lucas Aisa, founding partner of CeConBe, made an interesting reflection on communication: “What we do not tell does not exist. Share with your audience your actions, your reasons and your aspirations”. Lucas stressed the need to do things that deserve to be told, something that the audience decides. He recalled that society expects from organizations a sense of purpose and belonging and warned about the dangers of falling into mediocrity in corporate communication channels.

In summary, the great challenge for companies in 2025 is to build a better world: more innovative, digital, sustainable, diverse, entrepreneurial, and culturally transformed. . All of this will be enhanced by communication strategies that make the audience feel part of the business achievements. If so, the companies we meetwithin five years will be quite different from those of today.
