Save the date: Startup Olé

The last two weeks of August mark the end of the summer holiday period and the beginning of planning for the next academic year. However, this year, the return to schools and offices will be more special than usual.

After almost two years of the pandemic (half of which has been dominated by vaccination), a return to normality is foreseeable. Many companies declared their intention to return to face-to-face work from September onwards. Human contact is closer than ever to going beyond the screen, and what better way to kick off than with a face-to-face event bringing together the crucial players in the startup ecosystem?

Startup Olé returns from 6 to 10 September in Salamanca, so save the date because it is an event that neither investors nor entrepreneurs can miss. After the previous edition was held online, in 2021, this annual meeting of the entrepreneurial ecosystem will take place in person, with the option of following the event via streaming.

Fellow Funders present at Startup Olé

Fellow Funders has always had a clear interest in participating in events of this relevance and will be present at the event. Stephan Maisons, Ernesto Muñoz, and Guillermo Azqueta, partners of Fellow Funders, will show attendees that there are multiple ways to finance alternatively and that Fellow Funders can help you in many of them.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The first question to ask is: what is Startup Olé? It is a technological event that has been held in the city of Salamanca since 2014, with the presence of investors, entrepreneurs, public administrations, etc. The best way to bring together all the agents that are required to understand each other is to ensure that entrepreneurship in our country and beyond continues to grow year after year.

Startup Olé has been able to bring together more than 40,000 attendees since its creation from more than 120 countries, more than 1,000 startups, more than 800 speakers, and more than 250 major investors. This year expects to break the record of registrations, in an edition with a leading role for face-to-face activity, but with a considerable weight of online events.

A calendar full of activities

On Monday 7 and Tuesday 8,  most of the activities in our calendar will be virtual, with several online round tables, a project presentation competition, and an Ibero-American forum, among others. The VIP party on Tuesday evening will kick off the live events, which will run from Wednesday 9 to Friday 11.

On the morning of Wednesday 9, the core part of the project presentation competition will take place. A networking cocktail and a welcome coffee will give way to the afternoon, which will feature more round tables and a reverse pitch, a speech in which the organizations address the entrepreneurs. The latter will be attended, among others, by Álvaro Castro, counselor of BME Growth. It is important to note that the activities of this edition will be distributed among four different buildings,  allowing attendees to choose from a wide range of conferences, talks, and debates.

The press conference and the official opening ceremony, attended by members of the European Parliament and the European Commission, will be held on Thursday morning. The afternoon will be dedicated to round tables.

Featured Attendees

On Friday morning, the final elevator pitch competition and the closing ceremony will take place, the finishing touch on the week. A week in which personalities such as the European Commissioner for Innovation and Research, Mariya Gabriel; the CEO of Cabify, Juan de Antonio; or Alberto Pérez, CEO of Coca-Cola European Partners Iberia, will visit Salamanca.

And, of course, the partners of Fellow Funders: Stephan, Ernesto, and Guillermo. At Fellow Funders, we are proud to participate in this event actively, which shows the significant growth they have experienced in recent years. We invite you to accompany us to this great event, which will serve as the inauguration of the 2021-2022 academic year. A year in which they hope to continue filling their backpack with investments, successes, and events such as Startup Olé.
