If any acronym represents the first decades of the 21st century, it is undoubtedly Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs comprise 17 goals that stand as a “universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and improve people’s lives and prospects.” United Nations Member States ratified these goals in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In the case of investment trends of the first decades of our century, it is undoubtedly Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). ESG investment is the ultimate representation of Socially Responsible Investment (SRI). It focuses not only on profitability but also on environmental, social, and good governance criteria when incorporating an asset into a portfolio.

According to the United Nations, although we are working and making progress on these goals, it is slow and insufficient. For this reason, the role of ESG investment in achieving the SDGs is evident: to support projects with environmental and social impact to help us aspire to a better tomorrow.

Fellow Funders makes every effort to finance ESG projects through our platform that are both profitable and sustainable for our investors and planet. One of these projects is Simply Solar, a company that (in addition to all of the aforementioned) addresses three SDGs.

Goal 7

This 7th United Nations goal aims to “ensure affordable and clean energy”. Renewable and sustainable energy is advancing by leaps and bounds more than ever, achieving excellent results in the energy sector. In fact, the number of renewable energy generators in Spain has been equal to the number of traditional energy generators since records began to be kept.

Simply Solar, in turn, contributes to this goal by concentrating its activity on photovoltaic energy. The company is a leader in the international electricity scene thanks to its integrated solutions for parking lot roofs and telecommunication antennas. Moreover, Simply Solar and its parent company Praxia Energy have worked on large-scale projects in 28 countries.

Goal 11

This 11th goal seeks to solve an urban dilemma: cities contribute about 60% of the world’s GDP but are responsible for about 70% of global carbon emissions. The solution to this dilemma lies in smart cities: economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable urban centers.

Therefore, parking lot solar roofs are the perfect example of a step towards these smart cities, towards a sustainable future. One of the pillars of Simply Solar’s business is the designing and manufacturing of photovoltaic parking lots. Simply Solar’s solar parking lots consist of outdoor parking lots that incorporate solar panels on their roofs to generate energy. The company is also finalizing the details of an operation that would facilitate the storage of this energy for later self-consumption or, even, to divert it to an electric charging station for parked vehicles. Just as if it were taken from a smart city.

Goal 13

All the goals and actions lead to an ultimate embodied in the thirteenth goal: climate action. The decade 2010-2019 has been the hottest decade on record. Our Earth cannot wait for us to react, and that is why projects like Simply Solar are so urgently needed.

Simply Solar stands for the ESG acronym to perfection, committing to the SDGs in a way that is more than evident. For this reason, we could not pass up the opportunity to offer our investors a company that is so profitable both for their portfolios and for the planet. Just 11 days before the end of the funding round, we have already reached 89% of the target. Find out more about the project on their website and start the photovoltaic revolution!
